"When the Intergovernmental Revenue Sharing Agreement between the County of McLean, the Town of Normal, and the City of Bloomington was enacted in 2016, members of the League of Women Voters of McLean County Mental Health Study Committee applauded the decision to use shared revenue exclusively for mental health and public safety.
"This Intergovernmental Agreement represented another good example of the kind of cooperation between the local governments that has existed for years, and for which the League has advocated for decades. Additionally, the agreement represented a means to accomplish needed improvements in behavioral health services in our county.
"While we understand there are issues yet to be worked out among the three governmental entities, we applaud the effort. The League has high hopes that a resolution of the issues involved will be accomplished and the shared sales tax will continue to be collected for the purposes of mental health and public safety."
