League members Judy Buchanan and Sally Rudolph are continuing to monitor mental health services in McLean County, especially as those services relate to our local League position.
The League long-standing position was developed in 2014 and reads as follows:
The League of Women Voters of McLean County supports:
~ Pro-active core leadership, planning, coordination, and collaboration for mental health services in McLean County.
~ Funding which is effective to meet needs for a comprehensive continuum of mental health services in McLean County.
~ Cradle-to-grave mental health services for all individuals in McLean County.
The League is working on various ways to determine how the League can be most effective in helping to enact the goals as stated in the above position.
The McLean County Behavioral Health Coordinating Council (BHCC) was paused earlier this year by the McLean County Board. The League is paying close attention to this development as a BHCC restructuring then occurred. Subsequently, the McLean County Board approved an ordinance which details the Council’s BHCC membership and powers; the Council bylaws formalize the BHCC role as an independent advisory body to the County.
The Mental Health Action Plan will be revised in the near future and the League will watch that process very closely as well.
