Affordable Housing Needs
Help Someone Buy a Home

Our League is connected to the efforts of the Bloomington Normal Community Land Trust in support of our position on affordable housing. The Land Trust is seeking a home to purchase on the west side of Normal or Bloomington. This will be provided to an eligible community member in the $60-80K income range who’s currently unable to break into the housing market.

If you are aware of a home coming on the market in the $150K price range, or if you’d like more information on the Community Land Trust, please contact board member Georgene Chissell (info@lwvmclean.org) who is representing us in this effort.

ICYMI ...

In May, WGLT, ran a series on seven tips for making change and not noise in getting things done in McLean County. There are examples from League members in the story. The story is below, in case you missed it.

Annual Meeting on Thursday, July 16, 6:00 p.m., Bloomington Public Library, 2nd floor.

Hear Local Residents' Views on Housing

As part of a statewide housing planning effort, the Illinois Housing Development Authority is hosting listening sessions to learn residents’ perspectives on local needs and goals. They will use this information to create an Illinois Housing Blueprint for municipalities, state agencies, nonprofits and locals leaders use.

The listening session for our area will be held on Wednesday June 17 in Peoria. If you would like to participate, please RSVP using this link
In addition, a community survey is open to all residents. The survey can be found here

This is an opportunity to assure your thoughts on the local housing situation are heard and responded to.
