Please join the League as we learn more about how government funding actions are impacting our communities, and may affect our daily lives. This new program is a sequel to one held last fall.
We will once again feature the work of The Documentation Project. This community group formed in 2025 to record the local human impacts of government actions. It aims to inform and engage McLean County residents in public policymaking.
Presenters will discuss what several federally-funded programs do, and what's at stake in our local communities. The featured topics include:
Tariffs and USDA
Impact of tariff policies, and US Dept. of Agriculture cutbacks on area farmers and our communities.
Presenter: Michael Doherty, economist and independent consultant
Youth Enrichment Programs
Impact of termination of grants supporting enrichment and summer educational programs on families and students.
Presenter: Rebecca Kinsey, The Baby Fold
Science Grants
Impact of grant terminations on educational institutions and students.
Presenter: Gabe Spaulding, Professor of Physics, Illinois Wesleyan University
