The program, A Conversation About Youth Civic Engagement, will shine a spotlight on the powerful role young people play in strengthening democracy.
Date & Time: Thursday, October 9, 6:30 PM, at the Bloomington Public Library
Distinguished speakers will share their perspectives and experiences in engaging students and young adults in civic life.
- Lynda Minor and Rhonda Kirts from the League of Women Voters of Champaign County will present their Youth Ambassador Program.
- John Bierbaum, Normal West High School teacher, will discuss an effort he led for students to serve as election judges at the November 2024 general election.
- Representatives from the Heartland Community College Service-Learning & Civic Engagement unit, Illinois State University Center for Civic Engagement, and Illinois Wesleyan University Action Research Center will discuss how they engage college students.
The program is free and open to the public. Students, educators, and all community members are welcome.
