Election Authorities Study Goes Public
by Diana Hauman
The Election Authorities Study team is announcing the study to the community in a press release today.
As noted at the annual meeting in June and in the following press release, the team will examine the election administration of the two election authorities in McLean County, the McLean County Clerk's office and the Bloomington Election Commission. The study will explore candidate and voter confusion about our two election authorities, consistencies and inconsistencies in election practices, and opportunities to improve efficiency.
Study team members include Terry Lindberg, Beth Robb, Shay Simmons, Harriett Steinbach, Janine Toth, Phylis VerSteegh, and me. To date, we have interviewed leaders in the other Illinois counties with dual election authorities. We have worked on surveys for the community at large, election judges, and community members who hold an office or who have recently run for office.
We have been busy and have much more to do before we present findings at a January 2026 league member meeting.
