Local Impacts of Government Funding Actions

About this event

Please join the League as we learn about how government funding actions are impacting our community in a variety of ways, and may affect our daily lives.

The program will feature the efforts of The Documentation Project, a newly-formed community organization. The group records the local human impacts of government actions. It aims to inform and engage McLean County residents in public policymaking.

Attendees will hear about how recent government funding actions will affect local families and communities here in McLean County.

Topics will include impacts to the following:

  • Rural Broadband Services: National Telecommunication and Information Administration broadband funding cuts to rural public libraries and rural fiber optic network construction
    • Presenter: Tony Grant, Assistant County Administrator, McLean County
  • Nutrition Education: Elimination of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) program education funding
    • Presenter: Katie Buckley, Director, Illinois Extension
  • Employment for Seniors: Delays in US Dept. of Labor Senior Community Services Employment funding affecting seniors
    • Presenter: Matt Burgess, CEO, Home Sweet Home Ministries

Registration is not required, but appreciated to help with planning.

The program is free and open to all members of the community.
