SCOTUS Punts on Social Media Censorship: What's Next?

About this event

Jill Wine-Banks to Share Her Views at LWVIL Presentation
Virtually, Via Zoom

Does the First Amendment allow US government officials to intervene and prevent the spread of misinformation and disinformation on social media platforms? The US Supreme Court recently had an opportunity to rule on this question. Instead, it declined to issue decisions in two cases, punting them back to officials in Texas and Florida.

Jill Wine-Banks, distinguished attorney and MSNBC legal analyst, will join us to speak about the US Supreme Court's recent action on social media censorship.

This program will not be recorded for later viewing -- please join us to watch it live.

This event is part of a League event series where noted authorities speak on relevant topics leading up to the U.S. Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 5. Presented by the LWVIL Misinformation and Disinformation Task Force, the series is part of an effort to provide tools and resources that educate voters.

The event is free and open to all.
